Duties and Responsibilities
Education: Technical Training in Relevant Technical/Engineering Field or Formal electronics training from: Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications.
Experience: Four (4) years general experience gained in troubleshooting, repair, and assessment that includes two (2) years specific experience of at least one of the following system families:
a) HF/VHF/UHF LOS Communications Antenna Systems (Examples include, but are not limited to, LWCA, HF Broadband or Narrowband Antenna Systems, AS-390, AS1735, AS-2809, AS-3226, and AS-4163.)
b) High Frequency Communications Systems (Examples include, but are not limited to, AN/URT-23, AN/URC-131, AN/URC-109, and AN/URC-146.)
c) Very High Frequency Communications Systems (Examples include, but are not limited to, AN/SRC-54, AN/GRC-211, AN/VRC-46, and Bridge-to-Bridge.)
d) NAVMACS Systems (Examples include, but are not limited to, AN/SYQ-7 variants and AN/SYQ-26 variants.)
e) Tactical RF Communications Systems (Examples include, but are not limited to, SAS, BAS, RDS, COMSEC, and AN/USQ-155).
f) Tactical Link Systems (Examples include, but are not limited to, AN/SRQ-4, AN/URC-107, AN/URC-141, AN/URC-154, and AN/USQ-167.)
g) Shipboard Wireless Communications Systems (Examples include, but are not limited to, AN/SRC-55 and AN/SRC-59.)

- The Candidate will provide support for various assessments/inspections and technical assistance, troubleshooting, corrective actions, adjustments/repairs, and groom support for External Communications (HF/VHF/UHF) aboard U.S. Navy shipboard equipment in support of Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC).
- The Candidate will:
- Observe operation of the equipment by ship's force to witness the full range of performance, where possible.
- Utilize appropriate measuring/test equipment to obtain and evaluate data (e.g. findings of the cold/hot checks, inspections, and operational checks), and oversee ships force accomplishment of adjustments and repairs to the maximum extent possible during the time available.
- Provide on-the-job training to Ships Force during any shipboard evolutions.
- The Candidate will:
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of Navy assessment programs, visit processes and reporting methods for visits.
- Demonstrate the proper use of and accepted techniques for diagnosing equipment using instrumentation during troubleshooting, assessments, and inspections.
- Demonstrate the ability to interpret wiring diagrams and control schematics.
- Demonstrate the ability to utilize computers including the Microsoft Office Suite for compiling information for reports and historical files.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively orally and in written documentation.
- Be able to develop written instructions, procedures, schematics and other technical data deliverables and documentation, as applicable.
