DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Technical Writer’s role is a unique position that identifies and assesses issues with technical documentation and develops specifications, plans, drawings, standards, purchase descriptions and other data required to define a design and to produce, support, maintain or operate Navy Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) equipment, components, and systems.
The Technical Writer will perform the following primary tasking:
- Integrate support elements and resources into technical documentation to ensure schedule, scope, and quality are met during development, revision, editing, and publishing. The technical documentation required for personnel that maintain and operate Navy and Marine Corps equipment and to ensure lifecycle support of C4ISR components and systems includes the following: Work Breakdown Structures (WBSs), Computer Aided Design (CAD) drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs)/Parts Lists (PLs), Test Procedures, First Article Units, Wiring Diagrams, Assembly Instructions, Disassembly Instructions, System Operational Verification Test (SOVT) plans and /or reports, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Ship/Shore Installation Drawings (SIDs), Technical Manuals (TMs), User's Logistics Support Summaries (ULSSs), Software User Manuals/Guides (SUMs/SUGs), Allowance Parts Lists (APLs), Planned Maintenance System (PMS) Maintenance Index Pages (MIPs) and Maintenance Requirements Cards (MRCs), Ship Change Documents (SCDs), Engineering Change Requests and Proposals (ECRs/ECPs), Software Delivery Documents (SWDs), and ILS certifications.
- Provide engineering change documentation including creating or updating pre-installation drawing packages as well as “as-built and as-fielded” drawing packages addressing all aspects of configuration changes including relocation of “interfering” equipment.
- Develop, review, revise, and/or update technical documents in support of modifications and upgrades of supported equipment or systems necessary to operate, maintain, and return such equipment or system to a serviceable state.
- Conduct requirements analysis and ensure a requirements traceability is documented.
Must possess significant technical writing experience, including the ability to liaise with and between an engineering staff and average joe’s (with little or no technical experience).
Must have the ability to understand technical requirements (technical publications and drawings); research and collect parts, systems, and programs data and research obsolescence issues.
Must be experienced and comfortable working with other contractor personnel and interfacing/coordinating with Government Integrated Product Team (IPT) Leads and Contracting Officer Representatives (CORs).
REQUIRED SKILLS/YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
Three years of current or other relative experience supporting DoD C4ISR projects with analysis, generation, tracking, and corrections of relevant data; demonstrated ability to communicate in a group environment and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. The Project Analyst should also have experience in resolving process procedures and conflicts to optimize outcomes.
Education: Bachelor’s degree

This position is required to have and maintain a Secret US DoD security clearance.
PREFERRED SKILLS
Computer Aided Design (CAD) skills is a plus.
Quality Management System (QMS) experience that is compatible with ISO 9001:2015.

Must be able to interface effectively with all levels of technical and management personnel.
Compensation: $41 - $48 an hour.
Compensation for positions at Centurum vary depending on a wide range of factors including, but not limited to, location, responsibilities, skill set, and level of experience.
